Wondering Why We Recommend The Thera Cane Massage Tool?
There are many knock-off Thera Canes on the market today. However, none of them have the same characteristics as the original Thera Cane. In fact, some are close, but they aren’t the same. Therefore, we needed to tell you why we recommend the Thera Cane massage tool.

Quality Manufacturing
The original Thera Cane comes as one solid piece of molded plastic. Additionally, the type of plastic that Thera Cane uses has a certain firm, yet flexible quality. Because of that flexibility, we feel you have more control over the applied pressure. Also, the size of the arch is ideal for Rhomboid work over the shoulder. While you may see variations, when you compare the Original Thera Cane to the similar type non-electric massage tools there is a difference in the way you can perform self-care. Having a better built personal back massage tool will make all the difference in your outcome. Accept No Substitutes!
Targeting the Pectoralis Minor (The Hidden Cause of Upper Back Pain)
A non-standard use case that highlights the Thera Cane’s durability and unique shape is addressing the Pectoralis Minor. Many people don’t realize that tight chest muscles are often the root cause of pain between the shoulder blades. The curve of the Thera Cane allows you to hook the tool over your shoulder and lean into the pectoral wall with precision. Because the tool doesn’t flex or snap under heavy pressure, you can sink deep enough to release the pec minor, effectively “unlocking” the tension in your upper back.
A pro-technique involves using the hook end—the same one you use for your rhomboids—to address the Pectoralis Major first. By hooking the nodule under the edge of the Pec Major, you can gently pull the large muscle away from the skeletal and fascial structures beneath it. This “lifting” action creates essential space and prepares the deeper Pec Minor to be released more effectively. Because the tool doesn’t flex, you can work around the edges of Pec Major to “unlock” the tension that radiates to your upper back.

Releasing the Gluteus Medius
The Thera Cane is equally effective for lower body maintenance, specifically the Gluteus Medius. To get the best results, try moving your leg laterally (out to the side) to slacken the muscle. Once the tissue is slack, use the Thera Cane’s nodule to sink into those tight, adhered areas. This technique allows the tool to penetrate much deeper than it would against a tensed muscle, making it easy to address stubborn adhesions that cause hip and low back discomfort. Using rhythmic compressions with the straight end of the tool work your way around your hip bone (Illiac Crest) at the top and your leg bone (femur) in the middle. You may be able to feel some sore spots. Stop there and hold pressure. Thinking about how to address your muscles in different ways will amplify the benefits you will get with this tool.
Additional Nodules for Versatility
Another reason we recommend the Thera Cane massage tool is the additional nodules it offers. These nodules expand the Thera Cane to allow for arm, leg, and hip work. Ordinarily, working these areas on yourself is a bit of a problem, but the Thera Cane makes it easier for self-care. One of our favorites is using the Thera Cane after Contrast Therapy Treatments on our arms. The nodules make working the attachment points of your flexors and extensors incredibly easy.
Thera Cane Instruction Manual
Thera Cane encloses an instruction manual with each tool. The manual is quite thorough, outlining how to use the tool correctly and taking some of the guesswork out of the process. While you can get creative, it’s nice to have a starting point. Thera Cane also provides instructional videos on YouTube—two thumbs up for that!

The Thera Cane Is American Made
Finally, the Thera Cane is made in America. This significantly impacts the build quality. Hold a Thera Cane in your hand and compare it to the competition; you’ll immediately notice the difference. Not only is the quality superior, but you are also supporting American jobs—people who might just come to you for their next massage!
